— Simplest definition of this: Whatever is to the left of the . when you call the function

So if you do:

var thing = window.otherThing.methodThing;
thing();


methodThing will loose its' reference to otherThing

— Same happens if you do:

function useThing(thing) {
thing();
}

useThing(window.otherThing.methodThing);
